Web cam configuration issue for new macbook owner?

Author: I just bought a new macbook for my wife and we are installing software. It is the first Mac either of us have ever touched. I’m struggling a bit but was able to install Skype and Y Messenger. Skype works good between the Mac and a Toshiba, both built in web cams do what they are supposed to do. The problem is in Y Messenger, a video call to the Mac returns a message saying the software version (on the Mac) does not permit video. The video from the Toshiba is seen on the Mac but not vice versa. Both laptops are running the most recent versions of messenger. Is there a known Y Messenger video conferencing issue between a mac and pc?
