1. Now that you can have a webcam conversation with someone from the comfort of your office, will businesspeople start deciding not to drive to see each other anymore?
2. Does webex sounds like a cool product? What would be bad about using it?
1) After thinking about the pros and cons, or positives and negatives, do you think that online and virtual business meetings will be more common than regular face to face meetings and making them obsolete or unnecessary? Why or why not?
2) Look at the website Webex. Do the positive things convince you? Why or why not? List a few negative outcomes or problems with online conferencing and meetings.
Do you understand what “virtual meetings” ARE? That’s in contrast to what meetings have been through most of time — two or more people MEET in a room together, to discuss, plan, negotiate, etc.
Virtual means they aren’t in the same room, but are communicating using computers, and web-cams, and phones, and such.
So, think about the pluses and minuses of actually being in a room together, versus using the technology. Do you think that people will stop meeting in person as much, and use the other more and more — eventually more often than meeting in the same room? Why or why not?
Then go to the WebEx website — see what the site says about that service. What would it be like to use it? Do the positives sound really hot? What are the downsides?
